How much money did I make in February?

Hello and how have you all been?

I’m good. February went in a flash.

I was planning to release the beginners KDP course at the end of February but I had to cast that aside (bit dramatic, but I really did have to drop it) because this Clubhouse malarky took off in a surprising way i.e. immediately.

I’m where I thought I’d be in around 6-9 months time (but more on that in the income report below)

As a result I had to focus my scatty brain on learning the basics of the Substack platform and getting up as much of the promised content as I could (made more challenging by illness in the second half of the month).

I had to change some things, but we made it.

Plus I’ve started to get to know some of my members and that made EVERYTHING worth it.

This month I’m getting back to some of my usual work and figuring out ways to embed Sparrows End Clubhouse into my routines, which means that the pre-sale will be coming very soon.

I’ll send an email out with further details later in the month.

If there are enough sales during the pre-sale period then I will spend 4 weeks creating the video content and workbook so people can start a month after purchase.

Just make sure these emails aren’t landing in your junk folder and you should be in a good position to nab a place. They will be offered to my mailing list first, then I’ll advertise on Youtube if there are still places available.

But now for the money stuff!

I could give a list of caveats every time I talk about money, but I think if you don’t believe I’m sharing this information with the best of intentions then you wouldn’t be here in the first place.

Ultimately, I hope it helps you.

February Income Streams

  1. Vintage Shop (reselling)

  2. Youtube

    1. Adsense

    2. Affiliates

  3. Amazon KDP

  4. Redbubble (Print on Demand)

  5. Substack

I will be sharing the amounts that were paid into my business account during the calendar month, rather than what was earned. I often earn money in a month that doesn’t pay out for a further month or two. Mixing the two together could get confusing so I will stick to the above for consistency and because it’s pretty much how my bookkeeping is done.

I’ll add some explanatory notes for each income stream as we get to it and tell you whether the amount was average, below or above what I would usually expect. I’ll also show you my business expenses so you can get a sense of how lean (or not) my businesses are and how much profit I made overall.

The numbers in brackets show how much the amounts have gone up or down compared to the previous month.

Amounts will be given in GBP and USD

To unlock all my future income reports consider upgrading to a full paid membership. It’s currently half price for the year at £30 which works out at 58p a week!

FEBRUARY 2024 CREATIVE INCOME REPORT

The Vintage Shop

I sell second hand jewellery and vintage items on two platforms - Etsy and Ebay. The vintage jewellery/trinkets/homewares are sold on Etsy and the secondhand modern jewellery gets listed on eBay, along with some low value or broken vintage jewellery.

For most of February the number of listings gently shifted towards more on Etsy and fewer on Ebay (220 and 350 respectively)

I stripped eBay of all stock that wasn’t getting any views and created bundles out of lower priced items. I lowered my promoted listings amount from an eye-watering 8% to a still-eye-watering 6%.

And my sales went UP!!!

“For flip’s sake” I said to myself (I mean, I didn’t. I swore a lot. It seemed fitting.)

I’m now down to less than 200 listings on Ebay and sales are the best they’ve been for a LONG while. It’s LIKE THEY KNEW I was going over to the Orange Side.

Here is a simple breakdown of my net profit (after fees and postage but before stock spend - see expenses) from each platform:
